Woodworking Joinery Foundations Level 2

After having completed Level 1 Basics kick it up a notch by adding some sophistication to your woodworking repertoire learning foundation skills in joinery. We encourage a hybrid approach to woodworking by using power tools for the dimensioning and hand tools to refine your joinery and surfaces. Students registering for this course must have completed Level 1 or demonstrate prior skills by presenting a personal portfolio of applicable work. Topics covered as follows: 1: Design 101 and determining material budget. 2: Review lumber classifications and design for seasonal movement. 3: Learn how to buy lumber from commercial supplier and cost budgeting. 4: Introduction to sharpening. 4: Intermediate Joinery methods. Students purchase and bring their own lumber after the first session. Students are encouraged to bring their own hand tools such as marking gauges, chisels, squares, rules and planes.
