About this activity
This course is for beginners who want to learn woodturning, a bit like sculpture. The course aims to teach participants about different types of wood, how to use tools like jointers and saws, and the basics of woodturning. After a safety overview and an introduction to the Jointer, Planer and Table saw you will prepare a bowl blank of hardwood to be later turned into a bowl on a wood turning lathe using chisels held and controlled by hand. You will also learn how to make typical rounded wooden objects like table legs, rolling pins, toys, woodworking mallets, and more. Materials are provided, and more information can be found at www.urbanwoodworker.com. Bring a pen, pencil, and 1/4" graph paper for notes, and be ready to help clean up after class.
